HAZELNUT ORCHARD PLANNING TOOL

The Nut Plot

Carrying the hazelnut landscapeinto the future.

EZO HAZEL PLANTNER is a hazelnut orchard planning tool. It helps you sort out the shape of your land, row and tree spacing, varieties, pollination and future thinning, and turn them into a planting plan.

OUR WORLD

The world of EZO HAZEL PLANTNER

This tool began as a small scheme about forests, people and nuts.

To people, it is an orchard plan. To the squirrels, it is a Long-Term Nut Security Initiative.

The goals differ a little, but the job is the same: building a good orchard.

You plant. We plan. They snack.

FEATURES

What the tool can do

  • The field map. Producer trees and pollinizers fill a polygon-shaped site, and the area pollen can reach is shaded light blue.

    01

    Layout

Work out how to line up the trees to suit the shape and conditions of your land.

  • The pollinizer check. Confirms that every producer tree has at least 2 pollinizer points within reach, with varieties, block, spacing, counts and compatibility.

    02

    Pollination

Check where producer trees and pollinizers go, and verify the pollination conditions.

  • Layout details. Tree counts by variety for year 1 and year 10, pollinizer share, trees per acre, and row direction.

    03

    Spacing & Counts

See tree counts and density from row spacing, tree spacing and block size.

  • The left panel of field map mode. Site selection, compass display, background map (none, map or aerial photo), terrain and base point.

    04

    Map-based

Use the real shape and orientation of your land to plan for the actual site.

  • The export choices: a drawing PDF (two pages, year 1 and year 10) and a drawing PNG (the current view, high resolution).

    05

    Export & Share

Export drawings as PDF or PNG to take into the field or share with others.
